A list of influential and active individuals in the web community

I know what you’re thinking, the first person on such a list should be Tim Berners-Lee. But no, this list is about the individuals who play an active role in the community, teach others and transform the web (not saying that Tim doesn’t).

So how do we go about compiling such a list? With some help of course…

I came across the .net awards section of a popular web magazine – netmag (Practical Web Design in the US/Canada). The .net awards held annually are like the Oscars of the web and bring together the best talent the web has to offer.

In the January 2010 edition of netmag, the Judges responsible for choosing the winners in the different categories were listed.

There is probably a very good reason why these individuals have been chosen to judge the awards and that’s why I have listed them here.

The credit for this list obviously goes to netmag but I wanted to start a discussion about who exactly would make such a list? Can we make a top 10? Who would be the people in your list?

By the way, if you’re starting out in web design/development and want to keep up with the latest of what’s ‘in’ and what’s ‘out’ then these are the people you should be following.

Been looking at doing site optimization and improving the web design on my site for a while, so this website has been really helpful. Easy read as well, so thanks!
